Anyone ever added an access door?

I'd love to add one to be able to access the under couch storage from outside.

I haven't, but I have cut a 2 or 3-inch hole in the rear compartment for a battery vent, using a hole saw.

I would think what you're describing should be fairly straight forward, but you'd first want to ascertain where any structural wood is in the wall so you don't cut through it. Outside access doors to the under-couch storage area are standard on the slideout models, so after you've determined you're not going to hit any wood/pipes/wires (the latter of which would be visible inside), I would think it would simply be a matter of getting a door kit/frame (even from the TM factory) and using a template (probably provided) to cut out the hole. Screw in the door/frame, and you're done.

this is not factory? mine has an access door on each side for getting under the sofa storage, on the front of the slide out. mmm

Mine is a 3023. No slide out. Two couches. One has drawers under it. The other you lift the seat to get into. I'll probably re-sort everything so I don't need to mess with it. Been cleaning all day.

My '06 2720SL has one outside access door to the under-couch area. If there were a second access door, it would open directly into the back of the furnace, so I understand why. I wish the existing door were bigger, though.

There is no access to the under-couch area from inside except by lifting and removing the seat cushion of the couch.

I wish the existing door were bigger as well, but I think it becomes a height issue -- they use stock doors, and if the door were bigger (next common size up) it would become higher than the level of the seat of the couch. I think TM decided that was non-optimal.

On a related note, I did figure out a way to add two doors to the street side, so that one could access the under counter pantry space from outside the TM, even if the TM were closed down. I have no need for this mod, so I'm not going to do it, but if you're very careful with measurements, you can visualize how to do it, with an access door in the rear shell that is covered by the upper TM dutch door when folded, and in that position opens to a second access door that goes into the pantry. When the TM is fully opened, the shell access door will be hidden (on the inside) behind the wardrobe, so not visible in the interior.
