Air conditioner cycling
I have the side mounted 10000 BTU Fedders AC. It works, the fins get cold enough to frost over, but it is cycling about 90 seconds on and 2 minutes off when the thermostat is set to the coldest. I tried cleaning the fins and the thermocouple which may have helped a little. I'm assuming that the AC should stay on a little longer at least.
I noticed that some other AC units have a plastic shield between the thermocouple and the evaporator fins so that the thermocouple is measuring the temperature of the incoming air accurately, whereas the Fedders has no such shield. This could mean that the thermocouple is sensing colder air than it should.
Has anyone else had such an issue and found a solution? I would like to keep this unit. It obviously cools well, it just isn't sensing the ambient air properly.
