Repair cabinets' broken latch posts
Years ago someone devised a way to fix the broken white plastic latch posts used to hold TM cabinet doors shut. I've found the repair method to be very effective and decided to explain again how it's done for the new TM owners who are unaware of it. These posts, made of polyethylene or polypropylene, are not very durable and tend to crack at their base. You can replace the cracked ones with new posts purchased from Camping World or another RV supply store. The new posts are just as likely to crack with repeated openings and closings of the doors. Repairing a cracked latch post by driving one flat head wood or sheet rock screw into the broken part reinforces the post and seems to result in a stronger-than-new post. All you will need to do is to drill a small diameter hole through the top of the cracked part of the post and into the underlying frame of the cabinet. Then drive a flat head screw through the post and snugly into the frame. The accompanying photo shows how it's done.
