Some people install a 4-position battery switch so that they can charge both batteries at once and drain one battery at a time so that they can better control their battery consumption and not wake up in the morning with a dead battery or if they do, they can flip the switch to a fully charged battery. You also have the option of discharging bot batteries at once. It also gives you the option of turning off both batteries.

In this case, you would want a 30A fuse right at each battery on the wire between the battery and the switch. Then, you want 1, 30A fuse on the wire that leaves the battery switch, that goes to your converter. Wiring in this manner does not double the amperage required to blow the fuses.

One can never have too many fuses. :-)
