All of the parts involved in opening have some adjustment mechanism. The locking latches can be loosened or tightened to make that step easier.
The torsion bars can be adjusted to make opening easier, but understand that making opening easier will make closing a bit more difficult. Both adjustments are simple but the torsion bar system takes some time to get to understand. The torsion bar adjustments are on the opposite side from the lift arms so you have to climb around underneath to understand which bolt adjusts which lift arm.
