The no-wood changeover started in the 1990's; our 1997 has very little wood in the upper shell. I haven't found any wood in the lower frame, but haven't had to drill into it except to fix some damage behind the wheelwell due to a blowout. We haven't had any problems with ours due to wood in the frame. It's still a very solid trailer. We have kept it covered and haven't abused it. How the trailer has been stored and loved makes a huge difference on how it will hold up in the future.

We have a gas only water heater and it's only 3 gallons, the newer ones are 6 gallons and also run on A/C. Our year, and I believe that until about 2001, the A/C was side mounted, which can be a plus if you're trying to get it into your garage. Ours doesn't have as many windows as the new ones, but we like it like that.

We have a Dometic refrigerator that runs like a trooper, still going strong after 16 years.

Don't be afraid of the older models, if you find one, check it out well, you may find a real gem at a much lower price.
