Not that it matters much in this case, but I think I have to disagree. In all three of my 2720SL (slide) units (2002, 2006, and 2020), I'm pretty sure that the ends of the slide ran on rollers on that aluminum track. The slide is pretty heavy, and the aluminum protects the floor from wear as the slide moves in/out. Again as I recall (its been a long time), there is at least one more roller set into the floor at the very front edge of the floor (the edge nearest the hitch). Once the slide is out, it supports the floor of the slide under the front edge of the couch, and therefore the weight of people on the couch.

I know that TM in Tennessee made some changes to this area, since back in the 2002 time frame there was a problem with the edge of the slider flexing downward under weight. Either they stiffened the edge of the slide, or they added another wheel.

As I recall, you can see all of the wheels by going outside and looking under the front edge of the slide. You may have to lift the slide an inch or so to see under it.

Long ago, Commodor47 posted some pictures that may help clarify.
