Look at it this way (as with many other things in life)......you could be dead tomorrow for any number of reasons, and if you planned on waiting to buy a TM till you retired, you would have missed out on a whole lot of memories with your wife and grandson. I think it's pretty simple: if you want to go camping, then go camping -- buy a tent or RV or whatever, but just do it. Do it before you no longer have the opportunity.
I have longer than you to go till I retire, and I've had a TM for 7 years, having gone thousands of miles during that time (including 3 cross-country trips) and loved every trip. Have camper, will camp!
