You can feel it on a car tire because the tire will bounce, shimmy or vibrate (like severely out of balance condition). You cannot tell any of that on the trailer while driving.
If you take it to a tire store, they can check it for tread separation.

Got it. However I would think-tire tread separation could also be caused by excessive heat from friction such as the trie rubbing on the fender weld. It's a question of which came first. Chicken or the egg.
