Not a bad idea. I don't think I've heard of anyone doing that. The advantage would be that you can't drive off and leave your bumper cover in the campsite. The disadvantage would be that you can't open the door to the rear storage compartment without closing the lid of the bumper compartment. You also can't open the bumper compartment without raising the rear shell, which is sometimes unhandy.
