Another issue on towing ability is the grade of the incline. I have found that out West where there is generally higher altitudes, in many cases however, the grade is more gradual. In the East where the roads may be older, and there may be less space, the grade can be more, although perhaps for not as long a climb.
On many interstates the climb is some what gradual even in states like Colorado and Montana. I have found that patience is a virtue when towing generally, but especially in the mountains
