The lift kit has been discussed extensively here on the forum. The Search tool will turn up more than you ever wanted to know.
You can check out a good tutorial on installing a lift kit, written by wbmiller3, in the TM Technical Library, a.k.a. "Trail Manor Information You Won 't Find Anywhere Else"
Padgett is right that it doesn't increase the axle height, so it is not a cure-all.
