Hello All,
This season we'll be towing our TM with a Ford Expedition instead of my Toyota Tacoma. The Expedition has a smaller engine ( 3.5l as opposed to 3.9l )than the Tacoma and a lower towing limit ( 6300# as opposed to 6500# ) than the Tacoma. The turbocharged engine is pretty amazing. The Expedition pulls the TM much more easily. It has a built in brake controller with configurable settings for multiple trailers. It has a Tow/Haul button than changes shift points AND downshifts when braking foe engine drag.
Since it has an automatic transmission I'll be interested to see how the trans fluid temperature is affected when towing in the mountains. The electronic display gives access to trans temperature. On a shakedown trip right now and will see if we need any fine tuning to make this a great tow vehicle.
