Know about the fires this summer and don't know what campgrounds might be closed because of them. We stayed in the Rocky Mtn National Park last September and enjoyed it.

You might want to take a look at Westcliff/Silvercliff in the Wet valley. It is west of Pueblo. To get up there you go out by the Army Fort SW of the Springs on 115. If you want to you can go up the back route through Canon City on US50 and turn at Texas Creek. Otherwise you take 69 (?) through Florence.

It is very high up and there are not a lot of trees once you are there. You can see across the valley and the view of the Wet mountains is gorgeous. The town is just big enough to have the services you might need such as gas, a few restaurants, and an Ace Hardware. There are at least two small RV parks, and camping in the area. But you can get out of town in a couple of minutes. There are some places to see/go around there and LOTS of streams. If you fish there is a little lake there with fish in it.

If you go don't miss Bishop's Castle. Jim Bishop has been building himself a real castle for the last 50 years. It is rough but amazing. We saw a herd of elk on our way there once. Deer are plentiful in the area. Frequently seen.

They have an annual Bluegrass Festival one weekend, and then a rodeo on another. Don't know what else. Check the town website.
