Excellent detail Paul, and if you are able to supplement your descriptions with pictures, that would really be helpful. My door was a bit temperamental but once I replaced the bolts holding the sash lock, that fix resolved most of the issue.

As you mentioned, I will also go back to the shell alignment discussion as my first step to see if that can resolve my issue first, and then see how I (may) need to replace the center latch itself.
