Tire & Lift Update...

After the completion of 28 days of TM camping and 7,200 miles I am pleased to report that I am very pleased with the extra 2.5" clearance provided by the lift kit. NO problems.

I had originally aired the new 225/75/15 Goodyear Endurance tires to 55 PSI (rated for 65). These were also on new wheels (going from 14 to 15"). I had less than 1/32" wear on the tread after 7,200 miles! I was amazed at that. The tires ran cool, even on 90 degree days. I remain very impressed with these tires. I also checked the air pressure every morning and over the course of daily checks I did lose about 2 lbs total by the time the trip was over. All good!
Again...very happy with these tires!

Also the new bearings ran cool and a hand could easily be placed on the hub without burning (the way they should be!). We always checks hubs and tires immediately upon stopping...every stop. That is the only way you can develop a baseline as to what is normal heat. Should you stop and do your checks and suddenly you find a hub that is running hotter it is time for action. Better to find a problem in a parking lot than sitting on the side of the road with a smoking/locked/seized wheel bearing!
