It looks like everyone covered all the bases. I'll just throw in two:

1) Depending on how far up north you go, you may want to get some black out curtains. I lived in Fairbanks for several years. It really stays light all day, all night..... Some people have difficulty falling into deep sleep and you'll end up waking up really groggy all the time. If you're doing a lot of driving, that's a concern.

2) Invest in a screen door. There is not a SINGLE mosquito anywhere in Alaska. They're all married and have LOTS of kids.
