We too were looking for a 2720 with the 2 fixed beds. After about 9 months of not being able to find one close for the right price, we ended up driving clear across the country to buy a 2720SL at an incredible deal. We wanted the extra full time bed for company, but now that we have the SL model, we love the extra floor space. In fact, if we eventually get a 3023 and it has 2 couches, I think I will pull one out to give more floor space. The floor space is great for pets, little kids, and makes the TM look bigger.

Obviously, you only use the beds while sleeping. So one option, if your son goes to bed before you, is to let him sleep in your bed until you are ready to hit the sack. Then have him move over to the dinette bed. (you are camping after all, it's not a permanent situation.) Even if you bought a 2720 (not an SD), and your son went to bed before you, you'd probably find yourselves not being able to talk much because you'd be sitting at the dinette next to his bed. If I were in your shoes, an SD would be the best option in the 2720 series, followed closely by the SL, since the SD has better dining options.

Just my 2 cents.
