I've used white Gorilla Tape, clean around the area with alcohol, let it dry, apply the tape and press it out. It's really just duct tape on steroids, really tough stuff too. Alternately, you'll find excess seal lapped and folded over itself on the underside of the shells. You can cut some from there and use contact cement to secure a patch. Coat both the patch and the tear, let it dry and press the patch on. Once the two pieces of material touch, however, it's permanent, so go slowly.
