That is actually a good summary of many situations. TM does not necessarily use the same parts and equipment from year to year. They change, for reasons that make sense to them at the time, and someone who tries to help you may not be aware of the change. For someone looking for parts, it is fine to query the group, but in addition, a good approach is to figure out what you have got, and then use a web search to find it. Otherwise, you may to get outdated advice.
This applies to big stuff like air conditioners and converters, as well as smaller parts.
