Use a "File Comb". You can buy them at hardware stores. They are used to clean the grooves in metal files. A file comb looks like a small paddle with fine metal bristles. Simply brush the File Comb over the Hook part of the velcro that has picked up lint and the File Comb will remove the lint. Clean the lint out of the File Comb with an old tooth brush or stiff bristle fingernail brush. Hope this helps.
