In tx. you have the take the safety class and that will cost you a couple of hundred dollars and then the DMV. The only part you get to avoid now is the driving test. Used to be a DPS officer would have to ride in another car behind the motorcyclist and follow the rider around the neighborhood. The rider/person taking the test had to provide the car, so it took two people. It took me years, when I was much younger, to find a good friend to go with me or borrow their car because as youths, we did not want johnny law sitting in the passenger seat of our car....no telling what they may find in the carpet or fabric of the seats!!!
