I'd agree with your assessment of the 3124KS. We just returned from our first big-time (for us) trip of 18 days and found the unit to be extremely usable, with an embarrassment of space. We took enough stuff to last til Spring, and still had lots of unused space. The King Bed is really nice, since you have several options as to the end or side you want for the head of the bed. The later models are better laid out cabinet-wise than the early versions, but all have enough features and creature comforts to make for good travel and camping.
