ST (special trailer) tires are rated for 65 mph with the correct inflation for the load. I use that for a cruising speed but have had no problem with brief excursions for passing.
Some tires have a different rating but the two biggest causes of tire failure are overloading and underinflation.
Radials are more accommodating to deformation than bias tires so do not heat up as fast under the same conditions. I consider a nylon cap additional protection. And for the very nervous it is hard to beat a TPMS.
