Not sure abut that. My heep roofline and the TM almost match so I suspect the airflow may be close to laminar. OTOH an Avalanche is almost a pickup so the airflow is going to be over the roof, down to the bed, and then need to reverse over the TM roof. Lotsa opportunity for turbulance. A 2.5" lift could well increase that drag.
If I wanted to max the MPG towing with an Avalanche, I'd build an insert for the bed to smooth and channel the airflow over the TM.
