That should work just fine for you. We did something similar, although we found the velcro glue came loose in warm weather. If you put a screw in it, it should do the job. We also got rid of one curtain. Two was too many. We have made numerous modifications...we put removable shelves on the wardrobe and over the sink cabinet. Also made a wine glass rack under the cabinet. Used shower curtain rods (tension type) to hang our TV. It is off the counter and out of the way.
