Default Kumho 857

Just came across the Kumho 857 trailer tire. For those wanting to stay with the 14" rims, the strangely named "205R14C" is a "D" rated (8 PR) tire that is 27" tall and rated at 2271lbs at 65 psi. More than the 2150 of my 205x75r15s and .1" shorter.

When no aspect ratio is given (75, 70, 65) I assume an 80 aspect and that sounds about right for this tire's diameter.

I have never had a Kumho but have heard good things about them and might have stayed with 14s if had come across these.

For any trailer I recommend either a TPMS (visual pressure and temp) or stopping every 100 miles to check pressure and tread temperature plus a visual tread check. Unlike a car where a tire with a problem is often felt in the seat or wheel, trailer tires give warning when they come apart.

I can usually tell by the "feel" of the trailer when something is changing but that must be learned.
