Honestly, it depends on how much you pee and poop! We bought a blue tote (only 11 gallons because you have to factor in weight of the liquids when hauling and lifting that into a truck bed) but haven’t had to use it yet.
We have the Sealand M28 toilet in ours, so it has around a 9 gallon black tank. Because there are 2 adults and 2 kids in our family, if we’re dry camping but there are bathrooms, I’ll have everyone use the park restrooms in the daytime and save the TM toilet for at night usage.
We just got back from a 3 night dry camping trip over Thanksgiving when my in- laws stayed with us for one of the nights. We barely made it through that whole time without dumping but we did use the park bathrooms during the day.
