If the motor is corroded, that usually means it got wet. Any idea how that happened? It is well above the level that liquid could ever reach in the toilet. Did someone get carried away with cleaning the outside of the toilet, and flood the inside of that hood with something corrosive like bleach or vinegar? You wouldn't want it to happen again.
