I skipped the pop-up stage. I went straight from a tent to the TM after spending almost 2 years researching the different options available. It became a no-brainer for me. Texas_camper makes a great point. It's great on long trips to stop for the night without unhooking the TM.
BTW - I have not had any problems or quality issues with my 2720SL.
