We couldn't make the TM rally in CA, but once we got it together we took a shorter camping trip. Luckily, DH insisted on keeping the hitch attached to the truck. When we got home, we tried to detach the ball from the truck by cranking up the jack, but it failed and slammed down after a couple of cranks. That was kind of a scary moment, it dropped 6 to 8 inches without any warning.

We ordered this from E-Trailer PSRV2000013 it's supposed to come in the next couple of weeks.

I discovered that there is a certain diameter of the lower part of the jack (outside) and that there is a difference in where the jack handle goes (must be a "sidewinder" in front because of the propane tanks cover). It's rated at 2000 lbs. but has an "External Gearbox" which I would welcome if we could inspect the gears every time we hitch up and could lube regularly.

Any thoughts about this? I'll let you know when we get it and what we find out.
