Well, I got a 1-1/4” rubber coupler and cut it. I removed that large ridge from the trap with my little dremel (love that tool!) so it would fit in the coupler. Chamfered the inner edge of one end of the cuff a bit to make it easier to get the strainer threads started.

Set the strainer basket into the tub with putty (oil free), wedged in with my needle nose/1x2 assembly and screwed that lock nut with a nice sized washer back on by hand.

Then threaded the collar onto the bottom of the strainer as far as it would go, pushed the end of the trap up into the collar until it reached the bottom of the strainer (and used the original washer between them too, to keep all of the lengths as close to original as possible), tightened up the gear clamps and it’s great!

Everything lining up just as it should. Let it sit about a half hour, admiring my work. Poured a couple of gallons of water into the tub and ran outside holding my breath….

No Leaks!!! Dried up the water sitting around the drain in the tub so the putty will have a chance to set up properly, reconnected the ground wires to the frame and I am home about to make a burger on the bbq.

Tomorrow I’ll go back with the jack stands and start on the tires! And I’ll put that cover back on around all my lovely work. Didn’t want to jinx myself, so I thought I would give it 24 hrs to see if there is any drippage at all.
