Here's an additional idea. As long as you are mucking about under the sofa ("mucking about" is a handy British expression), why not bring a 120VAC line into the area, and put an outlet in the wall end of the panel in question? I did it on my 2006 2720SL, on the wall end of the panel near the furnace, and I love having power handy there. The factory liked the idea, and made it a standard feature shortly thereafter. In retrospect, I wish I had added two outlets, one at each end near the wall.
