After much agonizing and indecision, I bit the bullet and ordered some spray Scotchguard, $8 a can at my local Ace Hardware. They have two versions - Wimpy (for couches and doilies and stuff) and Mighty (for tents, awnings, backpacks, canvas, polyester, nylon, and so forth). I chose Mighty, of course. It will arrive on Tuesday, in time for me to spray it before our upcoming camping trip to the Granite Dells in Prescott, AZ.
I'll report the results.
