That's a nice idea, although instead of installing the entire screen on there, I think I would cut it to a size slightly larger than the hole to reduce the stress on the shroud that wind puling up that frame might exert. I'd also use additional screws or rivets to do the same thing.

And if you're going to do that, you can simply get a piece of expanded metal that doesn't have a frame. That might be cheaper. An obviously, you'd want aluminum or stainless.
