We have a side-mount AC in our Trailmanor, but we had a roof mount on our pop-up. It was 4 bolts to get the plastic cover off. There was no adhesive on ours.
However, while I don't remember exactly, I do not think this will buy you more than an inch or so. There were some ridges in the cover that stuck up a little bit, but otherwise, it mounted flat to the top of the AC unit.
