Yes. Just barely under 80 inches, but definitely there.

The trailer is level as far as I know. However I should point out that on my unit, the air conditioner is directly over the wheels, so no matter what games you play with the tongue jack, the height at the air conditioner won't change.

I think you should ask him for the manufacturer and model number of the air conditioner. A difference of 2" sounds like the difference between a standard air conditioner and a low-profile unit. Mine is a 9202-876, which is a low profile model.
