We just returned from a week of fishing in the Eastern Sierras. Towed our TM above 8300 ft going to both Rock Creek Lake and Twin Lakes. The Eco-boost engine in the truck performed flawlessly. Put the cruise control on 64 mph going north on Hwy-395 and went over both Sherwin and Deadman's Summits without any hesitation. The six speed trans down shifted into 4th gear and tached about 2600 rpm over both grades. Tranny temp stayed well under 190 degrees.

Zeroed the mileage out at the beginning of the trip, which before this trip was overall averaged 16.3 mpg in 7,000 miles since time of purchase. We traveled 865 miles in 7 days and got 13.9 mpg. Not bad considering 60 of those miles were off road traveling 3 to 5 mph on rough dirt roads in and out of a rural area above 8300 ft above sea level.

In a couple of months we are leaving for Colorado to visit friends. That will put us thru the Eisenhower tunnel both coming and going and I will be curious to see what mpg we get on that trip.
