I came across these pictures and I remembered why I did this mod.

The original attachment of the propane tanks were mounted in suck a way that it was very difficult to take out the rear mounting bolts and the front bolts are simply not necessary. A clevis pin works fine in the front and MUCH easier to remove.

The key to this mod was the slotted angle bar in the back of the tanks. Once the front clevis pin is removed, one only need to slide the tank forward and the tank comes right out.
