This is a problem that has occurred a few times before, and using the SEARCH function will turn up some discussions on the issue, like these:

In short, this is a major safety hazard that should not be ignored. Address it immediately. If you don't know exactly what you are doing, you should consider hiring an electrician to help identify and resolve the problem.
