Don't know a thing about Maxxis tires but the 15" rims will be an improvement since they will allow a larger tire. I believe that equally as important as tire size is to get rid of the rubber valve stems if you have them. Be sure to go with metal stems. We upgraded to the Goodyear Marathon 15" tires and run them at about 60lbs. pressure. I don't want the tires so firm that they beat up the trailer. Seems to work just fine and really has helped my peace of mind...
