I don't think there is any harm in deflating the tires down to say 20 psi, but I doubt that will give you 2 inches. Maybe 1", but I'm just guessing. Perhaps in combination with removing the cowling might give you the clearance you need, but doing both of those things every time you have to pull it in AND out sounds like a major pain. But, it might be your only solution to get it in there, aside from altering that opening somehow -- have you checked to make sure you're not just hitting some trim that could be easily removed?
