I don't know how much clearance you'll get with removing the A/C cowling, but I don't think it would be a good idea at all to deflate you tires to get clearance. If you deflate them to the point where your on the rim, that will cause premature tire damage or you don't realize you've damaged the tire side wall and it failes while you're driving down the road at the worst time.
