When I put in my maxxair 5100 replacement, (the lesser 'manual' version, because we will loose the remote)... I found no need to add any spacer height (with either the outside framing square or the interior. IIRC, even the screw holes matched up with the old Fantastic.

I simply cut down the supplied ceiling spacer to about the same height as the previous Fantastic Fan had used, and every thing installed very quickly.
