Dear Mamabear,
We run a heavy duty electric cord directly to the machine, which is inside the door. This goes to an outlet on the outside of our house. There is enough room to fit the cord through the rubber gaskets down there. Once in a while, we check the ground fault switch to be sure it didn't pop off. In the winter, we bring our camper battery inside. I've heard that dryer sheets keep out insects, but I don't know about mice. You're lucky to have a shed to keep it in. We have a big tarp that we put over ours since our garage is full of cars. Good luck to you.
