There was a period of time, many years ago, when frame breaks in the tongue area of swing-tongue units were more common than you would like. We had a good deal of discussion on it, which you can find. Try doing a search on "C-channel" (without the quotes). I don't recall seeing a rounded break like in your photo. The ones I recall - and the one I experienced - were all straight-line breaks along a weld. I don't know if yours is an outlier, caused by the incident you experienced, or if it is part of the general trend in that era. But 2003 was about the right time frame. As I recall, my experience was with my 2002 2720SL.

TM was quick to correct this failing, and the breaks in later-build TMs largely stopped.
