Like you, I put a 30-amp box in my garage, and a dedicated 20-amp box right beside it. Really handy. But the question from MisterP (post #7) is whether the seller will have either at his house, so he can demonstrate the air conditioner to you.
I agree that the air conditioner will work on a 20-amp outlet. But most homes are wired with 15 amp circuits unless someone has done something unusual. And I don't know if a 15-amp circuit will carry it.
