If you end up doing a PVC-to-ABS transition, Oatey also makes two specific products for this use. One or the other or both should be on the shelf of your hardware store, alongside the PVC cement and the ABS cement.
One is a green cement, comes in a green-and-white can, and is called "transition cement". The other is milky-white, comes in a red-and-white can, and is called "all-purpose cement".
