Phil,
When I had a boat trailer axle that wasn't straight I measured from the center of the tongue coupler to where the axle attached to the frame on each side. I used the front edge of the axle. Jacked up the frame and moved the side that was to far back forward. I think there was thread on the forums about doing that? Something similar may work for you using before and after measurements.
