I've been using some cheap strap-ons on the Sierra which work great. Seeing the full lane on either side is a whole lot safer than not. Very easy to install but must be fairly tight to prevent annoying jiggle.

On the Jimmy, we have a pair of mirrors that are spring loaded and mount just at the forward section of the wheel well. There is a padded hook that goes into the wheel well and 2 padded arms that go into the joint of the hood. They work pretty good, never any jiggle, but, unlike the strap-ons, to adjust them, you have to stop and have the passenger get out to tweak them. I generally have to do that twice to get it right.
